I'm missing out on most con stuff his year, for financial reasons mainly...but I AM aiming to go to the Labyrinth Ball in July. I'm going with my group of people in LA (Vanessa, Matt, Joellen, maybe Jack, Damian, etc..lol) if I can snag a ticket in time (may buy it next week). Some of you have met Jack, they're a great group of people Smile.

Are any of you guys interested? Some of you may have heard of it, it's a HUGE masquerade ball. The person running it every year is the now grown up baby from the film Labyrinth XD. Costumes at this thing are supposed to be amazing, people work hard on them. For anyone who loves art or costuming, you would probably like this. I have never been before though...Sean has.

For my costume I'm putting together a wolf-girl type theme (aren't you shocked? lol). Between other projects I've started on a mask, making the base from foil and tape. The plan is to make it black and sparkly Smile...glammy masquerade wolf, lol. I may post progress pics. Vanessa is helping me with the clothing part, but if we don't have time I'll wear a gothy dress I have with it. I may be making her a vampire themed mask if she wants one.

If you're interested in going, post here and discuss your costume! Not sure if any of you guys would be interested...but here's the link anyway.

I don't have an outfit I could wear to such a gathering. I don't even think that my pirate garb would suffice......what the fuck is up with my vocabulary today....I know how to fix it:

BUBEH! BUBEH! BUBEH! YEEHAAAAAAAAAH!

Anyways, I won't be going also because Naureen is not ready for anything as big as this Masquerade Ball. I want her to start with the one at Sakura-con next year.

That's alright Smile. I think all you need as a dude is some form of formal wear and a mask though. So, if you have a nice suit, you could just buy a masquerade style mask, or make one (or have me make ya one). Pirate garb probably would be okay, i saw pics with pirates on the website...you'd just need a mask. But yeah, as for Naureen, it might be a little intimidating...I can't say for sure since this will be my first time there. Assuming I can buy my ticket in time. I'm waiting for an art sale payment to clear, then I'm getting my ticket....probably by next week. Tickets are already on second tier Vanessa old me, they're up to $45...gah.

Mike- Cool, I'll keep an eye out for Barrie...which day is she going though? My friends and I are going Saturday.

Don't know, actually. I would assume Saturday, since we work weekdays. That would make the most sense.

Are her buddies anyone I know? I'm just curious if/how many familiar faces there will be. I think it's pretty big tough, so I may not even see her, lol.

The only friend who's in for sure is Angie (her Maid of Honor at the wedding) and one of her other bridesmaids (Catie) is trying to go but unconfirmed. Then there's Angie's friend who I don't even remember, so I doubt you've met her.

Ahh...okay, I THINK I know who Angie is....is she the one who was crying like crazy? XD Yeah, I just got back from the rehearsal dinner at my best friend Lindsay's wedding. This is my first time ever being a bridesmaid ( her sister is maid of honor). I'm a little nervous about the wedding tomorrow...mainly cause have to wear heels Razz....I'd better not let myself trip or something, lol. I think I have a fractured ankle so I have to be careful. Had this AMAZING steak at he rehearsal dinner, holy crap! And I got to try venison Very Happy! It was really good...interesting tasting.

Got my ticket Very Happy!

I'll be continuing to work on my costume off and on between projects, but won't be having my friend sew a one. there isn't enough time, and I don't wanna stress her out. Instead I'll be wearing this long, gothy dress Sean and I bought when we were dating. I love that dress, and it should work perfect for this Smile. I found some LONG, black ostrich feathers on eBay I'll be attaching to the mask (yay for eBay for being cheap!), and I'll be buying some black opera gloves and attaching claws to them...then adding some black glitter to the nails and having it continue up part of the arms. I also have a few other ideas I may do, depending on money...my goal is to buy those amber contacts I've been wanting for months. This should be a pretty cool costume once done, what's nice is I already own most of what I need to put it together.

And I also just wanted to say...

....

lol. Images like that, are tempting me to resurrect the Chaos thread *ponders* Twisted Evil .

No I have nto, but my friends have. The Goblin Clockworks is apparently mroe steampunk themed, like tinkerfairies, dwarves, goblins workers etc. themed. The second night on saturday is the prettier masquerade night. The first Friday Goblin Clockwork is more for the stempunk/grunge themed fantasy costumes.

Oh okay, that's cool they have that variety! I saw some pics from the ball, and they are some petty awesome costumes that show up there Smile. Lol, I'm not surprised my friends and I are going Saturday..most of the girls in this group are very girlie, and into princessy type stuff XD. I'm the tomboy of the group, yet I still get along great with them, lol. Are you taking plenty of pictures I hope? Both nights sound very cool.

I just bought some black 12-13 inch ostrich feathers for my mask that I'm making. I bought 6 of them, and I'm thinking about putting two on each side of the back of the head...and having one attached to each shoulder if it doesn't look awkward. My mom also had some left over paperclay from something, so I put on a rough coat on the front of the mask that's drying right now. If I sell enough art I'm definitely getting some amber contacts...thooose are gonna be fun, I've wanted to try out color contacts for years now Smile.

Do you have any specific plans for your costume? I dunno what your money situation is like, and these are pricey (but gorgeous)...but this etsy seller has amazingly beautiful, leather masquerade masks. I have this wolf bookmarked, but she has steam punk ones too, you can see one at the top above the wolf...and some awesome dragons and foxes.

This is my mask in progress and me wearing my Amber Ambition contacts that came in the mail yesterday Very Happy!! I LOVE THEM! It's a bad pic of me though..since I've been up hours on end working. Even went without sleep for two days straight painting stuff to sell X_X! The mask is almost done...it fits/stays on and I just need to do touch ups and add feathers. The photo doesn't do it justice, it doesn't show the texture and glitter well. It looks really cool on with these lenses! Smile

Close up on the lenses!
